Yep, it depends on whether you want to keep it original. If you put a 360 in there, those engines are externally balanced, and I'll guarantee you that you can "feel" that. I don't remember if the weights are on the torque converter or the flex plate
If the 360 is out of a pickup or other rear sump pan, you'll have to find a pan. Your 318 pan won't fit, because the rear main seal on the 360 is larger.
