Firing Order

I understand the firing order. And I know it's counter clockwise on a 383. But can someone tell me how to identify which cylinder is #1 on the dist cap? Where to get started?

I will put a picture up after work Monday. If you dont want to wait you can set the eng. at TDC number 1 cyl. on the compresion stroke. Pull the cap and see which terminal the rotor is pointing at. Thats number 1.
