440 to 426 Hemi Conversion
I'm sure this topic has been covered before but my search found no results. I have a 68 Charger R/T clone and want to replace the 440 with a Hemi (528, 472 or 426). The car is a stock 4 speed. What will it take (besides lots of time and money) to make this conversion? I have power steering, power brakes and it is an A/C car without any of the A/C components. I would like to run A/C if possible. Will a new Mopar 528 fit any differently than a year correct 426?

If I remember, the K member for a 426 is unique. Other than that, 440's over the years had at least two different "balance" situations, but I believe the hemi also might have had a unique flywheel bolt pattern, not sure. In any case, you'll need to research and make sure the flywheel/ torque converter is balanced to the hemi

K-member headers and motor mounts are differantthe trans and tork converter will bolt up as long as you have the flywheel Hemi has 8 bolts and 440 has 6 bolts, 440 must be older or internaly ballents
