beefier torsion bars need for engines swap??

i am working at finishing up the engine and need to know if i need to upgrade my torsion bars. 64 polara 440 with a 318 poly. i installed the just suspension's front end kit last year as well as it having the scarebird disc brakes on the front. just suspension has a 1" bar on sale right now , but not sure i will need 'em or if they will be up to the added weight of the 440. Depends on the car you're talking about. The Polara is a big car and probably came with hefty T-bars regardless of the engine. In my 74 Charger, I'm still using the factory 318 T-bars that came with the car and there's been a 440 sitting in it since 1982. Is it a "bad" idea to change them? No, is it necessary, hasn't been in my case. Archer |
Well, the 318 Poly was a heavy motor. Not sure on its exact weight, but it isn't a lot off from the 440.
