Buffing the rescued Roadrunner

3 Attachment(s)
I rescued this 73 last summer.

I'm still plugging along with the buffer. It is starting to look really nice. I'm gonna restripe it in black when I'm finished. I,ll post a few pics along the way. The first pic is the day I brought it home. It was orange (Very faded orange). Under the orange is the original Rally red FE5 paint. It was an old acrylic repaint, but very thick.

The next two pics are from today after a total of 16 hours on the buffer and hand buffing the difficult areas. I also put in a new windshield and a few other new parts.

It's no longer for sale by the way, I'm going to keep it!

Runner

I used 3m rubbing compound with an 8 inch foam pad. I followed that up with some medium grit polish. I haven't hit it with the fine polish yet. After the fine I will hit it with a hand, finish polish and wax.

I'm ordering the strobe stripe kit some time in the next two weeks. I'm freakin stoked.

Roadrunner

I will post up more pics after I restripe the car and put the birds on. I just want to get the car looking decedent while I restore the interior and get the mechanicals dialed in. I should have it restriped in a few weeks.

Time is what I'm lacking. I started a new job and hardly have any extra time to work on the car. Slowly buy surely I will get this old car back on the road again.

It was melting into a field in Fernley Nevada when I found it last fall.

Roadrunner

I haven't done any body work on it. It does have small dents and scratches. It looks a little better in the photos than in person. It is definately a very strait, rust free bird, that will make a great driver quality car. Thanks for the continued support.
