Camber/Caster Alignment -- 1973 Roadrunner
 

I purchased new A.R. Outlaw wheels for my 73 Roaderunner at Town Fair Tire (northeast regional chain). Their installation includes "free" front wheel alignment.

When I picked-up the car they showed me the alignment report (which indicated the need for both camber & caster adjustments), but they told me "there is no adjusment on that car for camber & caster".

I told them I found that very difficult to believe. They then responded "well, it can be adjusted, but it requires pulling out the motor and then making trial-and-error adjustments".

Their story doesn't sound plausible to me. Does anyone know what's required to adjust caster & camber on a 1973 Roadrunner? Thanks.

there should be a camber cam in the A arm, and caster is usually adjusted with shims, i may not be totally correct,

Thanks 1966sportfury. I read somewhere that the camber was adjusted with a cam.

The wheels look great!, but I wasn't pleased with their half-a$$ alignment explanation. I assuming it's probably labor intensive so they don't include it as part of their so-called "free" service.

you are welcome, and welcome to the site, there are others that know more about front ends than i do, it mite take a day or two for them to show up but they are here,....got a pic for us to gawk at?

I think I'll pull my engine this weekend to check my alignment!!

What a crock!!! How could you align something with all of the sprung weight removed?

Look for some access holes on the inner fender.

I have some pics... It may take me a few tries before I figure out how to post them. I need to take some with the new wheels.

BTW, the front tires aren't showing any signs of significant unusual wear, and it drives straight as an arrow (so I'm not overly concerned).

Most FWD cars these days only have adjustment for "toe". Simple enough for those morons to do! Those guys are just "tire-jockeys", NOT mechanics! There ARE adjustments for the camber and caster. Just ask around, you will find a competent shop

Yeah, they only did the toe-in and centerd the steering wheel. Oh well, at least the wheels look great.
