help drive shaft trouble!! 71 RR

i just pulled out my 400 with trans out of my RR im putting in a 440 with trans. i measured both trans and the one on the 440 is 6 inchs shorter than the one on the 400. so im wondering if i gotta get a longer drive shaft or get it welded. cause when i put the 440 with trans in, the driveshaft wont reach the trans... what do i do>>??

you need a longer driveshaft.

junk yard or a machine shop can make a new one. the question is how long. you have to measure it with the car on the ground as the space between the two changes when the axle hangs.
