inside of Roof

Has any one taken the top skin off there roof to replace it i was just wondering if there was a support brace in the middle of the roof in between thetop and bottom layer of the roof. I have a hole in right rear of my roof and i noticed the support bracket that ran along the back of the car along the glass does any one know how many support braces there are i just kind of want to know because i dont know if im going to rip the top layer and try to make my own replacement I really dont know what im in for
