need help on posi install

hey guys just put a new detroit locker in my 67 charger 8 3/4 rears, replaced axle seals, after completing install drove it approx. 4 miles, Left rear wheel started smoking, took it back to the rear end shop,I lost a lot of rear end fluid on the left side, the mechanic called Strange Eng. they said there was always a problem with early mopars and that we needed to install new axle bearing kit, Has anyone delt with this problem. Thanks jack
