Rims on a GTX

As you all know, I have a 1967 GTX.
Right now, it has a old set of Cragar's on it.
I want to get new rims, but I wanna get the same size that the car originally had. It is a drum brake car, so did it originally come with 14'' or 15'' rims?

I would say 15" wheels, but am not sure. Wouldn't it say if you ran the VIN?

67 GTX 11-17-2008 03:19 PM

i'll check on that:D

mr340 11-17-2008 05:13 PM

VIN won't tell you wheel size, I'd guess (and it's just a guess) that being a GTX it probably had 15's on it from the factory

67 GTX 11-17-2008 07:11 PM

well, i looked into it a little more, and i think, think, the car came with 14X5.5 rims, but the 15'' might have been an option

BuckNeccid 11-18-2008 02:39 AM

I know my first '68 had 14" Magnums on it

muggsy 11-18-2008 09:57 AM

14s were the size

67 GTX 11-18-2008 02:43 PM

were 15's an option?

rr69half6bbl 11-26-2008 11:29 PM

hey gtx. yes 15`s could be ordered. are you wanting to go back to a stock look? or something, sporty? If you want aftermarket. i would recomend a set of the new torque thrust 2 wheels. w. the charcoal centers, man they would look kick but on your gtx. If stock, Id do the magnum 500 `s w. redlines in 15". that would look refined.

67 GTX 11-27-2008 03:44 PM

i was thinking of going to redlines, but i have tires on the car that are new, (they came with the car) so, that rules out the redlines (i am trying to save some money, as new tires are expensive)
i have the car looking completely stock, down to the valve covers
but, i think the cragar s/s are cool.
i have those on the car now, but the chrome on them is pitted, so i figured just to get a new set of them

67 GTX 12-03-2008 01:51 PM

anyone know what a good price is for 4 s/s cragar 15 by 6
i figured $150-160 each
does that sound about right?

ef8340 12-03-2008 03:35 PM

kinda pricey for the cragers if they are in good shape try to sell the lot for 250.00 to 300.00

67 GTX 12-03-2008 05:42 PM

huh
i could be wrong, but i thought that was the price with the vendors at englishtown
ill look into this more
thanks

mitchs66 12-06-2008 08:44 AM

My '66 Belvedere came new with 14" rhims and now has 15s which I thank looks better.

67 GTX 12-06-2008 10:19 AM

ya, i think so to
there isn't much difference, so, it won't bother me

67 GTX 12-31-2008 08:17 PM

do anyone know where to buy the original magnum rims?
they are reproductions, so the chrome piece is welded onto them, right?

BuckNeccid 01-01-2009 04:27 AM

Are you talking about the trim ring? I'm old, so some things are going to be fuzzy, but if I remember right, the early Magnums were chromed all the way to the edge, no trim ring required, and later, maybe '69, they went to the paint and trim ring set up.

67 GTX 01-01-2009 07:34 AM

do you know what the repo's would have?

69 Mopar Maniac 01-01-2009 08:36 AM

I don't think 15's were available in 67. Try the Paddock they can probably tell you.

Think the website is www.paddock.com .

Good luck.
