Washer fluid pump

I saw the wiper motor thread and reminded me this question,
My Satellite is missing everything for washer fluid except for the tips that the fluid exits out of. I saw at Autozone that you can buy a container for like 10bucks or the baggy kind for about the same but no pump. I was just wondering do they make kits or do i have to buy a pump off ebay and tubing from autozone along with the container? Also are the pumps even noticeable? Will any pump do?

Thanks!

the one in the jug is usually made for that one and a few other models but you can put a universal inline one on with just plain old vac. line works just as good as long as there is no mounting hole in the jug for a stock pump because it will obviously leak.

Thanks,
So the original one that came with it had the pump inside the jug?

Skate;

I dont know if your pump is in the bottle or not. I been looking for a washer pump for my "c" body polara for quite a while now and finally found it. I share this with you in case it is the same as yours dont freak because it is a ford web site like I did. This is my OEM pump, It may be yours also.

I spent around 4 hours trying to repair mine a couple of weeks ago. A stock pump on a '90 Dodge Dakota.

The motor housing comes off with two tabs you can carefully bend upward. Then you need to grind off the rivets that hold the pump housing together. After which you can remove the impeller and pull the rotor out of the pump housing. Doing this you will reveal the brush contacts.

The other end of the contacts (not the part that touches the motor) but the other end is just pressed into place where it makes contact with a piece of copper that extents though the housing and makes connection with the wiring. It was this point of contact that was corroded and not allowing the voltage through to run the motor.

Did I get mine all back together and working? No. I could not get the pressed in piece back in correctly and ended up breaking it in half. But if you got nothing else to do..... why not try fixing it.

Joe.

Nick -

Not sure if this will answer your question, but if you just want to get it going again, how about giving moparcity (www.moparcity.com) a call and seeing if they have one for your car floating around - odds are they do.

This may sound redneck but! I found my washer pump and tank at the local UFA, it's a universal setup with the pump built into the tank, 3 wire hook up, too 10 minutes to hook up and test, looks like it belongs as it is a simple square tank, white plastic. Also seen simular things at NAPA, and Princess Auto (Canada's version of Harbour Freight) Paid a whopping $12.99 plus tax

Didn't use the push button included in the kit, just wired it up to the factory one on the dash!

Actually I checked out that mopar city that Archer recommended for some other stuff and was curious about if they had a washer pump for my car and they do.I would definitely check them out.
