1965 Windsor decoding

Hi guys, love the site so far, I'm new here and new to Mopars too.
I've got a 1965 Chrysler Windsor and I've looked all over the internet for info but nothing quite fits.

It's a 361 cid, 3 spd. Two door
I'll post up some of the information from the tags and maybe someone will have some answers. I'm mainly interested to know if the engine is original.

VIN: C6B59163607

Engine casting: 1945429-B
Engine stampings: AC1 900680

Thanks!! Andrew

well so far i havent found much. did find that A in the AC prefix is for 1965. and that casting no 2205712 is for 361 1958- 1966 not much help i know. i did a lot of info here. http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/motor/36.htm chrysler is known for not keeping great records at times. best i can do now. but keep looking. i did an edit i corrected 361 1959-1961......to 361 1958-1966

Thanks Moe! It turns out my friends Dad used to work for Chrysler in southern Ontario around this time and still has some contacts out that way. Just had dinner with him tonight. I'll let you know what we find. In the meanwhile I'll take some pics of the car and post them up. I'm loving it! Cheers, Andrew

Hi, I'm new to this.
I too own a 1965 Windsor (had it for 6 months now). It's in very original condition.

I'm under the impression it's a 383 but haven't been able to confirm this.
I've tried looking for an indication on the block but only located engine number which matches the dealer books that came with car.

What makes you sure yours is a 361? Is there an obvious giveaway?

Finding info on these cars is extremely difficult. I've contact Chrysler Canada and US as well as various clubs with little luck.
Check out the following. Not perfect but a start.

Andrew, BTW, I think you're engine is original based on your engine stamp being very similar to mine. Your engine block should be a fire engine red colour. The US 'Newport' version all had blue engines and the original Canadian Windsors were painted red. The no's on these engines all started with AC1...
Hope this helps.

You will probably get correct answers about your decode if you post on one of the C Body specific sites. There's a lot of knowledgable C Body guys that frequent these sites.

I too have a '65. It's a 300 'vert that I fully restored a couple years ago. Here's a thread on the restoration:

Wow.
That restoration is truly incredible.
Hat's off!
