1966 Fury III engine
I have a 1966 Plymouth Fury III and The VIN says I have a 318 "LA" engine, but I dont have the same(or at least I think) valve covers as an LA, It looks like I have a Poly 318 "A" engine(there are two bolts ib the middle of the valve cover). Is this something significant, or could someone have done an engine swap and changed it from an "LA" to an "A"? And also where is (if there is) a casting number or some sort of number that tells me what the info on the engine?

I will also post a pic of the engine when I wake up in the morning.

66 was the last year for the poly 318.I would suspect they used them until the supply ran out. Then switched to the new LA318

I had a feeling it was something like that.

its a poly "a" motor 100% i have the same in my 66 dodge coronet. Also they made the 318 poly "a" motor until 1967 on Canadian applications. Parts are very hard to find, definitely look into swapping the 318 for a bigger motor, because like i said parts are pretty scarce and/or cost a fortune.
