Mechanic for my 1967 Fury VIP 383
 

Hello C-body friends,

My beloved GG has been dry-docked long enough.. it's time to put rubber to road!
And so I'm looking for a qualified mechanic to work on my 1967 Plymouth Fury VIP. It's a four door hard top Commando 383 HP big block car with the original Carter AFB carburetor and factory dual exhaust. The car is in the Lehigh Valley region(Laurys Station) of Pennsylvania.. currently up on 4 jack stands in a garage space where the work will continue to be done. I purchased and drove her here from Ohio last August and she really moved down the highway! She starts and runs strong but carburetor keeps clogging up with orange sediment from fuel tank causing difficult starts, stall outs and rough idles. The sellers claimed they "boiled out the fuel tank" but the rust keeps coming even with fuel filters in place.. I've even rebuilt the carburetor.. so I stopped running/starting her to prevent damage.. hasn't been started since January 2016. She's in unbelievably beautiful shape--like a new car with only 14,000 original miles but needs a wide variety of things done due to non-use over the years; brake work, master cylinder bench bleed and install, all suspension bushings, fuel system, new fuel tank install, steering gear and steering pump installation, new gaskets, compression test, all lines bled, all fluids flushed etc. I have already spent months locating and purchasing all parts new and NOS, as well as doing pro rebuilds on the master cylinder, steer gear and pump, and brake booster. All parts are on site. I really need a very good reliable, experienced mechanic with all the necessary tools who might actually enjoy getting paid while working on this gorgeous, 100% original c-body! Someone who will diligently put in the work with care. I am learning about this car as I go, and cars in general.. so I will be there to work as well. I've got the official Plymouth shop manual for 1967 when we need it for all torque specs, factory settings, etc. I will pay a fair price and also be there to help. Extremely clean car. I would like to get this done in one to two weeks at most. Planning to begin working 8 hour days starting next week on Friday, September 9th 5-6 days straight.

This is such a fun, invaluable resource and community for us all. I'm learning a lot already, and looking forward to finding a fellow Mopar enthusiast to work with me. The craigslist option is far too daunting to weed through for something so important to me.

Should I also post this in general technical? IDK, I'm fairly new to the forums so any advice is greatly appreciated. I just don't want to get ejected for redundant posting in too many specialty sections ;-)

A good mechanic is not going to be out of work but a retired one might need something to supplement his income.:)

Iowan those are very good points and I'll certainly take it to task!

Also, craigslist may very well be the way to go.. I've seen several posts there for "mobile mechanics". I don't live in PA.. I'm in Brooklyn so I'm working out a trip go talk to people in the area directly about it. I had to put the Fury in PA as that's where the fuel system decided to clog up on my way home to Brooklyn last year.
