1976 Volare Road Runner

I got this Road runner back in February and have been working on it since. It was a lot of work, but with my friend that does the body work and I help it has come a long way. We are putting the chrome back on now. I redid the dash. I will get the upholstery redone in a few weeks. I had a black one in 1977, but it was a 4 speed with no AC and none of the ground effects. This one is much nicer. I had the 360 rebuilt and it is great. I will get more pictures later.

I have the stock AM FM 8 Track radio in the Volare Road Runner. Does anyone know if I can add an amp and if so what kind of amp? I have added bigger speakers in the back and they seem distorted. I really want to keep the original radio.

Your distortion could be because of different impedance....4 ohm or 8 ohm speakers? Older radios have no provision for an amplifier...they use 8 ohm speakers...also an old radio is going to sound like an old radio....maybe find a company that puts new electronics behind your old radio...I know there are a couple that do it for 400 to 500 bucks...then you can use an Ipod and an amplifier...

Wow! Very nice RR. I have a 77. I don`t think you can use newer speakers on the old radio. Even if it works I think over time it will damage the radio.

The radio doesn't have the power to drive 300 watt speakers
