Newbie with 1977 Aspen SE

Hello All,
I am brand new to this Forum and to the F-Body. I was surfing E-Bay and found a car I had to have. 1977 Dodge Aspen SE coupe, looks to be all original except the front end was damaged and now has a Volare front left fender, hood, and grille. What pulled my trigger is the color, Spitfire Orange with white top and white bucket seat interior. 318, column shift auto, factory air, ps etc. I am going to make it original again to just cruise. It has dual Flowmasters on it now. It is not running as the PO messed up the timing, hopefully it is minor. I got it cheap, at least I think so, $1700. Anyway i will be posting questios later when I get it home. Glad I found you, Kim

Welcome! ?? If he messed up the timing chain ? Get a roller chain for a 340. Also double check the timing marks on the gears. Good luck with the project. IF your budget allows I would replace the front rubber suspension biscuits with a cast iron or aluminum replacement. Be carefull with the grill they are hard to find

TVLynn,
I am thinking/hoping he pulled the distributor and got it off a tooth or so. I talked to him on the phone and he is a shadetree mech. It was running pretty good before he pulled the distributor. (so he says). I will find out soon enough. but if it did jump time, hmmmmm maybe a new cam, lifters, intake, and carb would be in order. On the subject of cams what one is recommended for street/cruising, with a 318 and Holley 600? The car has 95K on it so hopefully the timing chain is ok. Also it has a Volare left fender, hood and grille, Is there a big difference between them? Kim
