360 build

hey i am looking to get a cam for my 360 but i want to keep the stock converter to keep the good rpms from the overdrive tranny i want to know a good cam size i can use with the stock stall the truck has 410 rear end gears and a dana 60 and i want it to sound choppy and lopy but not overkill for street use any suggestion will help thanks

Call Comp Cams and ask them about their Thumper and ***** Thumper cams.

something around .450"-.499" range for lift. 260-270 duration.

Just for fun I ran your truck, stock everything with the XE256H on the Camquest 6. It came up 233hp 340tq. Putting small tube headers on changed it to 264hp 374tq. None of the other cams, even if bigger, showed any gains showing that manifold, heads and exhaust are the restricting factors. Look at the whole package when deciding and don't overlook the stock 340 HP cams.
