1950 Dodge B2-B108
Hello guys...
I just picked up a '50 Dodge B2 with little knowledge of the condition of the engine. It had been sitting for over 30 years without being started. It has the flathead 6 in it with prestomatic transmission, stick on the floor. Stuck a battery in it and turned it over only to find that, looking through the spark plug holes, the pistons were not moving but the fan and pulley below it were moving. Used the hand crank and turned it over with the same result. My guess is that the crank shaft is broke at the front, before cylinder 1. I have little knowledge on the subject and was looking for some input. Sorry in advance for the newbie question..but any advice would be appreciated as to how to proceed. I know...tare down the engine!
Thanks.
David

I'd start by pulling the pulley off. Could be the key fell out or the pulley is damaged.
Also, I'd pull each plug, drop some Marvel Mystery oil in each one, let it sit for an hour, drop some more in and then turn by hand. The oil will help lubricate the rings and keep the walls from getting scored.

1950 DOdge B2B for sale.
1950 B2B Dodge Truck.
218/ 3.6 L Flathead- Needs block repair but still starts. Has been converted to 12 V system. This truck has plenty of character. Does need work because of the age but is very solid. T172 motor that now has a hairline fracture in the block2 or 3 inches below head towards back. Will still start and drive fine except for that and transmission needing some love.
A little blood a tears and somebody will have a great truck. Gonna take it to CIncianatti and have motor and trans rebuilt if no buyer. Love that dang truck.
I drove it until two days ago.
OFFERS are fine.
$8500 OBO. Best offer is for those that will invest in fixing it.
