Got the engine started yesterday, after installing a new coil and some ignition wires.
Today i toredown the carburator as it was full of varnish ..success cause cause i didnt tear one gasket.

Power steering is still functional ...just waiting on the condensors to rebuild the distributor.

I have to replace the water pump as the bearing or bushing is bad ....very loud.

Should have my manuals tomorrow.

And found on youtube a Chrysler Master Technician videos (slideshow) on the repair and diagnostics for the transmission ...great find !!

Today Sunday ... i cleaned out the transmission fluid pan ...it had clumps of parafin in it.

Disassembled the front pump ....the inner ring was toast ...lucky me a got a spare transmission , re-assembled the front pump section. Cleaned out the torque converter.

Verified the transmission, good gears look fine and everything is working, disassembled governor and all switches ...all good.

Tomorrow i will be receiving a bunch of parts from RockAuto and will also receive a bunch of manuals. Tomorrow will be reading night for me.

Project is going great ...GF thinks i should call the car Mistress ...Loll !

Hello,
I also have a New Yorker but it is a 1953. It's the same car as the 1952 Chrysler Saratoga, and in 1953 the New Yorker became the New Yorker Deluxe. I'm looking for a mopar heater core if anyone can help? My core started leaking to the tune of 2 gallons lost. Today I had the heater bypassed until I find a core. Some guy will rebuild mine, but 400 dollars seems to high. Thanks

**** News on project ****

Wow ...what a busy year it has been.(work related)

Searched and searched ....for a local rebuild shop that would do my WP .... found none ....finally found a NOS seal kit and got some bearings local ....repaired the pump ....with high expectations ....shaft is pitted and doesnt seal .....getting a rebuilt one from the US.

And know i am attacking the brakes ....need to find some shoe toe adjuster's for all 4 wheels and the cylinder rods for the front brakes. (new cylinders but no rods) i have redone my master ...but i may have to get it sleeved.
Cant test the Booster yet.

kanter cant supply these parts ...could anyone help me find some ?

Happy Halloween

Try Atlas Chrysler.... http://www.moparmall.com/servlet/StoreFront

Not sure if you have this list of folks to help... http://www.vintagepartsource.com/chryslerparts.htm

As for the water pump shaft "Sleeving" and or welding and re-machining was not that uncommon.

All Star Automotive might also be able to help?????

Got my brakes in from kanter ....found 2 cylinder push pins.

Them darn shoes are tight ....barely able to re-assemble the front wheel.

How can i get a stuck drum off the rear.

I tried heating the hub, a very large slide puller and even a zip gun ...it seems as if someone pushed the keyway in the hub/shaft way to deep and its frozen there.

Also got a WP from kanter ....bur havent installed it yet.

My new Garage is built and the electrician is coming saturday to finish the wiring. Will post a few picks later ...neighbors are jealous

PS Thanks for the info RacerHog

Thks RacerHog for the plymouth link ....my puller is about the same size but it is of the slide/hammer type. I use it mainly on more recent FWD cars when replacing wheel bearings.

I will try to get my hand one one ( we have a few at the shop) but i was reluctant of putting one on. Scared of damaging the axle threads.

If you're puller is ever tired of being on that wall and would like to be adopted by a good caring mechanic ..and included in my new garage I would welcome it gladly ....i am sure its willing to do a few more pulls.

to BB i am sure ill never use it again. and i have LOTS of other stuff. since you ask for it first i will have to think if you have first shot , or give my buds in the local club first shot. and i dont really own them much. but i dont a list of all that i have. off the top of my head i have about 10 factory service manuals. about the same amount of motors brand manuals. but not a lot of parts. do have some tools.

moe7404 I feel your dilemma ....my father passed away a few years ago and he was a Tool & Die machinist in Detroit ...i kept a few of his hand tools and gave some to one of my sisters ....we co-own a Fargo pick-up and when we use one of my Dads tools we always strike up a discussion concerning him ...keeps his memory more vivid ...sort of a therapy thing.

If you do want to part with some tools or manuals ...I have a good place for them. Personal message me and we could discuss ...Thanks for your offer
