440 into a 50 Plymouth 2dr
My first day on the forum here...I have a 1950 Plymouth 2dr Special Deluxe with 22k on the original straight 6. I've recently aquired a Dodge 440 with 727 automatic trans that i'd like to use instead. Is there anyone out there with experience in an engine swap like this? Will the engine and exhaust manifolds fit or will there need to be any frame modifications (aside from the motor/trans mounts) to make this work?
Thanks! |
Similar question here. I am looking at stuffing a 440 engine and tranny from a motorhome into a '52 New Yorker sedan. Is there enough room for this combo? Not too concerned with having to make up mounts and stuff.
Thanks, Dave |

Thanks! Your fabrication skills and budjet are the only limits on this build, it can be done with stock parts or race car/street rod parts or what ever you can build.. Next pick your entire drivetrain motor, trans and rearend, your front suspension and brakes will need an upgrade so give it some thought before you start. Sounds like a fun project! |
Hey Iowan; Where in Iowa are you? I used to live in Davenport before I moved to Texas. My oldest son still lives there. I am new to this site but I like it . I have a 55 dodge coronet 2dr that I want to build. I have a 88 Chrysler 5TH ave 318 for motor , trans and rearend. Mike
