newbie with a brake inquiry

Hello all! Glad that I found this forum. Working on a 1950 Chrysler Windsor's brakes and could use some advice. Put in new cylinders and hoses on the front as well as shoes. All new parts match up to originals as far as specs and measurements. But I cannot get the drum to go over the darn new shoes. The adjusting nut is set at the loosest setting and the cylinders are fully recessed. The piston is set properly in the notch in the shoes. Any suggestions other than an 8 pound maul?

Perhaps the pivot end of the shoes is hung up and not properly seated?

Also... Make sure the backing plate shoe guides are flat that guide the shoe. Sometimes there is a lip....
Also you my have to have the shoes Arched to fit the drums.
