Swapping to Electric Fuel Pump on my '55 Dodge
Has anyone done a mechanical to electric fuel pump swapout on one of their cars before? Is it difficult? Any issues to watch out for?
If so, a few questions: - where did you attach it? - I assume you added some type of automatic shutoff switch?? - If you leave the key in ignition mode, does it overheat the pump, since it is running all the time? - any pressure issues in connecting to a carburetor? Any other tips would be great. Sutton |
The swap itself is pretty easy. Just make sure you don't get something with out of control pressure or volume ratings and you'll be fine. I have attached them in various places. Just be logical about it and you'll be fine. Inside frame rails is popular. Most will shut off when they reach a certain pressure so leaving key on isn't an issue. That being said... why not an ACC position? |
