No fuel going to the engine

I have a 1994 Dodge Van with a 318 engine. The van has been sitting for several months. I put the charger on the battery and just thought I would see if it would turn over. It turned too slow to start. However, I did notice the fuel gage indicated I had gas in the tank.
I let it charge overnight and tried to start the engine. I immediately noticed the fuel gage indicated the tank was empty. I then put 5 gallons into the tank, but the gage still indicates empty. The engine turns over but will not start. Disconnected gas line at engine and I'm not getting gas. The fuel tank was replaced less than 2 yrs ago.
Before I drop the tank, and $200, I would like to know more about the electrical circuit for the fuel pump. Where is the fuel pump relay on this van? What else can cause the fuel pump and gage not to work?

Well you'll have a filter at the pump inside the tank. If that is clogged, then you will have to pull the tank and replace it.

Did you take a look under the vehicle at all to make sure that you do not have a leak somewhere?

There should be a relay in the fuse box under the hood. If you turn the key to the run position without starting it, you should hear the pump kick on. If not, have someone near the tank listen for it as you turn the key on. If there is nothing, try another known good relay. If it works then get a relay. If not, then check to make sure that you have power going to to relay and then to the pump.

If you have power going to and coming from the relay, then you probably need a new pump. They may have just replaced the tank and not the pump since it was working back then.

You need to take the carb off and clean out the float needle valve .You need to take the carb off to open up the float bowl

I would replace the fuel pump and the fuel filter first to eliminate those items.
