3.9 V6 electronic ignition conversion
Mopar used to offer a kit to do this, but apparently it's no longer available. To swap a 3.9 V6 from the hall effect distributor to 80's electronic ignition, you will need an electronic smallblock V8 distributor as well as a reluctor wheel from a slant 6 distributor. Pop the reluctor wheel off of the smallblock V8 distributor and replace it with the slant 6 reluctor wheel. All of the other V8 internal components remain as they are. That's it. You use the V6 or slant 6 cap and rotor (same p/n). You will have to play with the position of the distributor (like when you adjust the timing) to get it to line up with the cap contacts. You'll of course have to wire the vehicle for electronic ignition, but that's a whole different post that I am sure has been discussed before.
This allows the use of the perfectly good 3.9 in other vehicles if you don't want all of the eccess wiring, computers etc. I did a body swap with a 1987 Dakota chassis and 1953 Dodge pickup and did not want a computer. The 1987 was the only carbed Dakota so look for an 87 intake, or else you will have to make a carb adapter or machine an 87 or later or find an aftermarket V6 4 barrel intake. Mopar made them as well, but good luck finding one. I'm not sure what you would do to make a Magnum intake work. If you could adapt a carb to it and plug up the injector holes, would it act like a tunnel ram? Hmmm.
