4.7 to 5.7 swap

i got a 05 dokota with a 4.7 v8 grocery getter engine. will a 5.7 bolt up to the automatic or does that need replaced also. besides swapping out the emc and maybe fabing some motor mounts. anything else i need to be concerned about? im not real sure on this newer stuff. thanks.

i am 99.9% sure the trannys bolt up. it is a ton of work to do the swap and cheaper to make the 4.7 a firebreather. are you lookig to do the swap because you have a tired 4.7? there are some not so expensive mods that can be done on the 4.7 to wake it up...

no it not tired. it just hit 70.000. it just has no go. makes alot noise thru the muflers just dosent get out of its own way. i know its just not mine i drove 2 others that were the same way 1 with 30.000 the other with over 100.000. what is a ton of work? does the harness need to be replaced? what mods would you suggest? i looked at chips but jet only says 14 hp 11tq gains. i do have a "cold air" intake on it. sry for all the questions. thanks for the reply!

from what i've read, a hemi swap requires the entire harness, computer and even an instrument cluster as they are integral for the setup.

i have an '05 4.7l and jus hit 90 in mine, my dad has the same one and just hit 150 both are still going strong. we are in the planning stages of a mild hi-po rebuild on his.

for yours right now, there is an adapter to use the high flow 2008 intake manifold, match that up with a ported throttle body and a good cat back exhaust. i've never been a fan of chips, seen too many engine malfunctions.

check out this site, the guy has a lot of cool 4.7l upgrades

I swa a 4.7 dakota around here with some bolts on and it ran pretty good. High 14's on street tires.

I would go with a 5.7 hemi it will be easier too. It May have less power but there aremany more performance upgrades for it than my 4.7L although now ya got me thinkin on that 5.7L .
