I have fought when others feared to serve.
I have gone where others failed to go.
I've lost friends in war and strife,
Who valued Duty more than love of life.
I have shared the comradeship of pain.
I have searched the lands for men that we have lost.
I have sons who served this land of liberty,
Who would fight to see that other stricken lands are free.
I have seen the weak forsake humanity.
I have heard the traitors praise our enemy.
I've seen challenged men become even bolder,
I've seen the Duty, Honor, Sacrifice of the Soldier.
Now I understand the meaning of our lives,
The loss of comrades not so very long ago.
So to you who have answered duties siren call,
May God bless you my son, may God bless you all.

X2 on that my friend!!!!!!!! I get a chance to see and talk to a lot of our dedicated servce personel in different airports while I'm traveling... I always make a point to thank them for their service and for protecting me and our country.. They all give you a WAG and you are welcome!!!!! So Memorial Day is every day for me... But thanks for bringing it up.... And thank you for your service also my friend!!!!!!!!!

Mack it was Duty to try and make our land a better place for generation that would come after me, the 60's were a very scarry time in the U.S being a young man of my age and at the time I belived what I had to do was the right thing, I have never changed my view on that a bit I did more then my Country asked of me and never recived one bit of acknowledge except for some ribbons and people calling me a murder. My wife and the kids as they grew up never talked about the war it was such a taboo thing to bring up anywhere for anyone untill the wall was erected then we gained the respect of the people, I went for the first time in 06 to see what was left of my Bro, a name in stone - all I know is I spent about 8 years in and out of Nam ruining peoples lives for our Govt. lost a Brother and spent 10 years trying to turn the switch off .... and would do it all over again in a heartbeat, thank you Mack I salute you sir, Jake

I see Jimmy's was carrying an M-40 (A2?). Tough job, and only the best were able to do it. We won't forget.

Good eye Tony, no A2, one of the first Remington 700 M-40's in country to replace my Winchester 70 30-06, used a XM-21 M-14 silenced in the boonies the M-40 was my "In Town" weapon - we were setting it up that day and it was the last time I seen Jim, and thank you Mr. Archer Sir.

Sarge, I will not forget. It is not just another 3 day weekend for me. My father served in the military for 27 years. The reason he left was because he could no longer strike a recruit during basic training. Yeah, he sounds like a d1ck, but he explained it to me like this "if I cannot do what I need to do to train these guys in a way that gives them the best chance to survive, then I am not in the right job". With that, he retired in 1966. He was a DI and training guys who were going to Vietnam. I was going through some of his things today and came across his Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He was a hard a$$ and he and I did not get along for much of my life. I thank God I had time to get right with him before he passed away some 10 years ago. He served in WW II, Berlin, Korea, and God knows where else. It never ceases to amaze me how much smarter he got as I got older. As I said, I never served, but my old man server long and well enough for both of us. Anyone who has the balls to serve has my respect (women too) even if they never see one minute of combat. The guys who did see combat are just in a whole other class. I am thankful for our warriors then and now. God bless them all (that includes you Sarge).
