Is this pitting acceptable???

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, Not getting much response elsewhere.

I got a pair of (Non-Mopar) Heads purchased as rebuilt from a Florida machine shop.

Everything looks fine except this one valve is very rough on the top and pitted on the bottom side.

The band has no pitting after being cut down, Though the very outer edge shows some roughness in the upper picture. The guide inside area is smooth. and all other valves look fine so far.

Basically my question to all you engine builders is:
Would You, Yourself run this intake valve like this, And feel comfortable in doing so?
BTW, What the heck would cause that pitting?

It's not a top dollar Build or Engine by any means, It's not all that old either, But I DO NOT want to have to pull the heads again from something I could have fixed earlier. Or have any performance loss of course.

I would throw that valve in the trash can, Then flag down the first taxi I seen and bring those heads to a local machine shop. If that machine shop sold that set of heads as rebuilt with that crusty valve. Theirs no telling what else they monkied up... The valve cost less than ten bucks.. WATER,, ROT,, SALT WATER is what did that.

You say non Mopar are we talking GM, Ford, Pony, or some other after market Mopar head. I have messed with a lot of boats, and you do not want to buy anything used GM around any state that has saltwater without looking at it first. GM 305, 350,454,496,502,540,572, all the way to 1350 stuff

Blown head gasket w/ water in cyl, heads left out in the rain??? The pitting on the edge could cause a hot spot and burnt valve. Personally I would replace it

Thank you for the quick input!
And I meant "Remanufactured". It's a Ford.

The 2 Valves pulled so far:

Here is the 2 Seats:

The stems are not smooth on the 2, Fingernail will catch weird protruding vertical squigly lines.

Keepers, Springs and caps were all obviously re-used after a quick cleaning.

I've already apparently voided the "Warranty" by Dis-Assembling. But, I got them from here with high hopes:
http://stores.ebay.com/A-R-S-Machine...=p4634.c0.m322

I would have just slapped them on with a rep like theres, But... I noticed grit on top of one of the valves, And then pitting and everything else.

I'll get more pics up as I get around to further dis-assembly, But am I only looking at new valves and cut at this point?

There are alot of shops that do just that. Clean the parts and reuse the old stuff throw new valve seal and call it a day. They dont test spring tension or replace anything because that costs money. Funny you should say remanifactured thats what you got. What you want is rebuilt its all a play on words. There would be shims under the valves on a set of heads that were done right. How do you even know if they were magnafluxed to check for cracks. I would return them and look elsewhere unless you are a gambling man.

/\???
All springs are the same size on this application.

These are stopping by the local machine shop and then I need to figure out what I'm going to do from there.

I'm past the return/exchange date:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-3-8-4-2...item337c9b5613
And ebays version of "Remanned" meets "Rebuilt" standards mostly...

I actually had not fully inspected the second head enough~It has "Expanded" water jackets (Chunks missing???):

They have so many high positives. I don't understand what the deal is here...

My local machine shop tells it as it is, So I'll find out if they are workable or straight up garbage.
