Thanks

I spoke with Torqueflite Patty and he said the 2-3 flare can be a result of a specific combination of release springs in the front clutch and/or release springs in the KD servo and that it's not necessarily bad if it's not excessive.

Mine flares consistently about ~300 RPM's and the last two times I dropped the pan, there were no shavings, so I'm just gunna leave it be.

I was told it was the kick down band adjustment was to loose. It doesnt much matter now I took 2nd gear out playing a month or so ago.. As soon as I feel a little better Ill pull it and rebuild it to handle the HP and put a stall converter with it...Winter project along with a ton of other stuff...Bill

Flare 1st to 2nd.... is the 2nd gear band adjustment too loose, so slow to apply and engage 2nd.(Front Band)

2nd to 3rd Flare is the same band, same problem, because the same fluid that applies the 3rd clutchs is also the same fluid to release 2nd band, which, if too loose disengages too quickly... allowing the flare until 3rd clutch grabs.
The 2nd "Front" Band is externally adjusted on the side of the 727 trans, so easy fix.
