I believe messing with the oil viscosity creates problems with the Multi Cylinder Displacement functionality, if so equipped?

Do not use any oil that is not recommended for that engine or any other engine for that matter..Todays cars will set a code for the wrong viscosity oil and it will play havoc with the VVT solenoids....not to mention all the other components that depend on oil in these close tolerance engines... That engine should be 5W20 synthetic blend or better... DRAIN IT and put the proper viscosity oil in.. I also would use Mobil 1 which is what Chrysler recommends.... Bill
