the 400 isn’t a bad engine its a big bore 383. but losses hp due to smog control. low compression mainly. now identify the 2bbl? what are u looking for exactly? there should be numbers on the lower flange or a tag on the bowl bolt assembly. ive never seen a 400 in a truck? dont mean that they didnt do it. and come to think of it ive never seen a 400 with a 2bbl usually a thermal quad.

Welcome!

Could be swapped in or a 383 or 440 as a some of the power wagons from this time frame came with them.

Not sure what came in the trucks but I don't think it would have been orig with the 383, wasn't the last year for those '71, then the 400 came out in '72 as a replacement. I have a 400 with a 2 bbl, came from a '77 van.

Welcome..... I have two of the 400's and the quickest one pulled my Barracuda to a 9.95 at 135 mph in the quarter mile.. I know this is a drag race engine but you could mild it up a little and make a very strong street machine.... Good hp and TONS of torque.... JMO
