newb here.. magnum swap into my 340 duster??
Hey whats up everyone, you guys have a kickass forum going here. This may seem pretty simple to most but my mechanical skills and knowledge are slowly growing and I've never done engine swaps and stuff before.
I have a numbers matching 70 340 duster that i want to get the original motor out of before i blow it up or something. The car is a street driven car that i like to drive to the track and bracket race occasionally. I am looking at the 375 hp stroker crate motor that blueprint engines offers, and I believe it is based off of a 360 magnum motor. My question is, will this be a straightforward swap? From what i have read so far the blocks are supposed to be indentical on the outside. Will my 727 bolt right up to it? Motor mounts the same? Any other issues I might run into? And just for the hell of it, anyone out there from Las vegas that has all the tools required for the job? hahaha! Thanks in advance for your info everyone. Alan |

are you going to have the crate motor be carb or EFI? From what I have read the magnums and LA small blocks are different so you might have to modify and custom build some mounts. as for bolting up to your 727, I have no idea.
Why do you want to pull the motor out if its a numbers matching? Its worth a lot more with it in it. why not just biuld up the 340? that would be one sick car with a built 340 and 727.

Aslo if the magnum crate motor is just like the magnum motors that came out in 92-03, then the exhuast manifolds will be different along with the intake. If the crate motor is based off of the pre 92 magnum motors, then you should have no problems.
