replacing driver side remote mirror

Is there a special tool to remove the bezel or is there an easy way to remove the old mirror without damage?
Do I need to remove the door panel?
I also need to replace the ignition so I need to remove that also.
Thanks

There are special removal tools available for each job. I have removed both using a pair of needle nose pliers carefully. Normally, the nuts are on finger tight and back off easily when turned counter clockwise. I only used the pliers just enough to loosen them up and completed removal by hand to minimize potential damage caused by not having the proper tools.

In my case the door panel needed to be removed as the mirror and cable will only come out through a central hole located beneath the mirror mount assembly, when exposed following the removal of the one exterior mounting screw located at the rear of the mirror mounting base, removal of the (inner) stud nut located beneath the front of mirror mounting base and removal of the remote cable bezel nut. I'm sure someone knowing more about this topic will post. Good Luck.
