Tasca strikes the tires about 300 feet out and has to pedal. Wilkerson goes right down the groove with the quickest pass of the round so far to move into the top spot.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.247/294.24, Now #3
Right Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 5.204/152.83, Now #8

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.216/293.28, Now #2
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 5.746/121.18, Now #11

hight has the same problem as those before him, going up in smoke about 200 feet out. Capps goes right down the groove and moves into the second spot.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.183/290.01, Now #1
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.229/282.66, Now #4

Pedregon drifted to the right all the way through the run but still made the quickest pass of the round so far to move into the top spot. Beckman went right down the groove with a decent run to move into the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.200/300.40, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Neff Runs 4.798/174.53, Now #10

Final Qualifying

Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session
By Dave Rowe

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 26th annual AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 4.257/296.63, Now #15; Best prior run: 14.401/69.91, Was #18
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 10.296/93.08, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.521/102.90, Was #17

3:40 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 92 degrees, relative humidity 25 percent, barometer 29.25 inches, adjusted altitude 3,427 feet, track temperature 124 degrees.

Haddock goes up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle. Lee goes right down the groove with his quickest run of the weekend. He gets in the field and bumps out DeJoria.

Left Lane: Todd Simpson Runs 4.584/238.43, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.984/165.11, Was #16
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 5.942/117.55, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.349/137.50, Was #17

DeJoria was just bumped out of the field and Simpson is on the bump.

Dejoria gets about 200 feet out and goes up in smoke. She pedals once, goes up in smoke again, then wisely gives up on the run. Simpson Makes his best run of the weekend and will stay in the show on the bump. His car starts smoking badly as he goes through the lights and word is their is oil in the shutdown area.

Left Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 4.224/298.01, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.214/298.34, Was #14
Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.303/287.53, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.208/296.76, Was #13

Two good looking runs, both right down the center of their lanes, header flames high and steady all the way through the runs.Neither will improve but Arend makes the quickest pass of the round so far.

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III No Time, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.178/295.14, Was #9
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.256/287.60, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.200/300.40, Was #12

Not sure what happened here. Both cars staged, the tree came down on the right side but not the left side. Hagan hit the throttle and went right down the groove but didn't improve. They backed Tasca's car off the line and raised the hood to prepare to make another run while NHRA repairs the problem with the tree.

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 4.154/300.86, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.178/295.14, Was #9

Tasca's crew did a great job gettting his car ready to run again. He stages without a burnout, then hits the throttle and goes right down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend to move into the fifth spot.

Left Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.204/301.60, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.165/304.67, Was #7
Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.580/195.65, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.187/299.80, Was #11

Wilkerson gets about 500 feet out, loses a cylinder on the left side, makes a move to the left and has to back off the throttle. Beckman goes right down the middle of the track but doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Mike Neff Runs 4.211/302.35, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.163/303.50, Was #6
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.235/299.13, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.186/299.40, Was #10

A good side-by-side, both down the middle of the track but neither improve.

Left Lane: Robert Hight Runs 4.814/170.77, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.154/304.32, Was #4
Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.848/169.15, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.173/301.40, Was #9

This was almost a replay of the first round today for these two. In the first round they both went up in smoke at the same time about 200 feet out. This time they make it further, about 500 feet, then go up min smoke together again.

Left Lane: Jon Capps Runs 4.266/290.44, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.152/296.44, Was #3
Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.215/297.29, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.167/302.62, Was #8

The two brothers again, Ron took the first match-up earlier in the first round. Both go right down the groove with decent passes and Ron takes another one to make it 2-0, but brother Jon is qualified five spots higher.

Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 4.254/293.92, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.141/303.78, Was #2
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.214/297.16, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.086/307.86, Was #1

Pedregon makes another great pass for the conditions. He has been consistent all through qualifying with four good runs. Gray isn't doing too bad himself with three good runs for the weekend so far.
