225 Slant Six Leak, 66 Valiant Help

Hi Everyone,

I am brand new to this forum, but have loved Mopars forever. I need some help determining what to do. I am a beginner mechanic and I am taking on a seemingly large task. I am replacing my 225 (cracked block) and after buying a used replacement and spiffing it up a little, I decided to check for leaks... (should have checked for leaks first)

My main concern was the oil pan because I replaced the gasket, but there is no apparent leaks there. just above the oil pan on the front of the engine, I believe it's the timing chain cover, there seems to be some sort of rod sticking out and oil is leaking from it. The engine is on it's side right now, and i figure that typically oil wouldn't be able to reach there. any ideas on how to prevent the leak?

For a picture check out:

Also, I don't know how to properly post pics, so any help would be nice.

it looks like a line up pin for the timing cover. the gasket should prevent it from leaking by going around it.

as for posting pics, if you sign onto photobucket (its free) and load them on there you can copy and paste the last code in your post and the pic will show up.

by the way, welcome!

Thanks a lot for your help. I've already pulled off the timing cover and I'm buying the gasket today.
