Check EGR light and misfires
 

In my 83 b350 my "Check EGR" light is on which I understand comes on every 12k miles, does anyone have a clue where the switch is to reset it?

Also I know I need a new carb, but it still seems like my engine is missing, I replaced all the plugs about two weeks ago, and I just replaced them again today. Could my carburetor be the cause of the misfire? It seems to have plenty of power when taking off. When I get to about 2/3 - 3/4 throttle were I'm guessing the secondaries should engage I just bog down and lose power. Could something else be causing the misfire or could it just be a belt making that noise? Also since the check EGR light was on I pulled the vac tube off of it. I don't feel any suction from either the tube or the valve itself. I'm not sure if that is normal or not.

Going to replace that when I get the carb done as it's a pretty cheap part and doesn't appear you can get to it with the carb on.

Button might be under the hood or behind the dash cluster.
Check for vacuum leaks, These can be very picky...

I figured the EGR light out. There was a box under the dash with a 9v battery that needed to be replaced. I've checked the system up and down for vacuum leaks but haven't found any. It seems to run very well when could and the misfire if it is happening only seems to happen after it's been warmed up and I drive around for a while. Hoping this is related to the carburetor and it running rich. When I get the carb replaced next week, i'm going to change the EGR valve for good measure. With the warm up after I get moving and put the pedal down past 3/4 and it bogs down I believe that is what is causing the misfire if it is a misfire. I only notice this when I'm near the engine. Standing in the back near the exhaust it sounds to me like it is running correctly so I guess I'll have to wait for a professionals opinion on this one.

IF the spark plugs came out white? It's too lean.
If you haven't already //// Try changing the fuel filters.

If it runs fine when cold not when warm sounds like oxygen sensor. They don't work until the engine is warm. I could be wrong....

Any idea where this thing might be located. They're pretty cheap and probably worth replacing just to tick the box.

The oxy sensor is located on the exaust pipe.
On the converter. Should be just behind the bellhousing maybe a foot away.

It has one or two wires coming out of it depending on type im not sure if that year is a single wire or not.
It sticks out about 2 inches and i believe it takes a 7/8,s or 15/16,s socket.
The socket for those has the side cut out to allow for the wire not to be pinched

I've traced my exhaust from both manifolds all the way to the end and I don't see an o2 sensor anywhere. I don't set a catalytic converter either. When I do look to buy one they are all marked as upstream, could it be located somewhere else?

If it has one it would be just after the manifolds before the converter.

if no converter it wouldnt have a o2 sensor i fig being 83 it would.. my 78 did...

If the o2 sensor and catalytic converter have been removed as well as the vapor canister, is my engine alway going to miss when it warms up or could it be due to something else? I looked again and there is definitely nothing between the manifolds and the exhaust. Any idea where the wires would have ran too as maybe it is something I could add back. I don't see any wires hanging there, but if there was an o2 sensor it had to have run to something so maybe I could start from the other end. I guess I'm a little confused on what the 02 sensors purpose is on a carbureted engine.

Also have one more question, while examining the manifolds and exhaust I found this large know. Any idea what it's purpose is for?
