Edelbrock 750 cfm stumble problem

I have a 440 with Edlebrock performer RPM cam. This is a fairly hot cam for ordinary street use. My 750 cfm carb was quite difficult to drive in traffic because of the stumble. Had to shift into neural at stop lights.
A friend suggested that I borrow a Edelbrock 600 cfm carb he had lying around and give it a try. After installing that carb the car became a great driver. Not as much on the top end but tamed the low end beatifully.

I am not surprised that a sales clerk at a spped shop would suggest a new carb. If you do a little reading you will find there were some bad Edlebroke 750s put on the market. You should be able to tune your hessitation out of it. Edelbroke also sells a nice strip kit that comes with different needles and seats and good directions.
Watch-out though, cause a lot of folks are gonna tell ya to throw it away and use what they like . Truth is most carbs work well some better than others, but still. That is the case with anything. What happens is a guy gets used to what he has and knows how to tune or fix it. Then anything different is said to be junk. Or the carb did not run right out of the box and the guy has no tuning skill so the carb is junk, buy a new one. Holleys tend to do better out of the box. This is because Holley realized many years ago that folks tend to set em up lean and cause problems so the Holleys come kinda rich out the box and tend to satisfy the guy that just throws parts at things. The majority of thier customers? Don't know but Holley carbs seem more popular. I have also read thet the thermo quad from Chrysler is a great carb. Yet a lot hate 'em. So again(?)
I like the e-broks cause they were made off the factory design. After all you want it mopar right? I still run my 40 year old carters but that is just me.
