Fuel Pressure Regulator 96 Cherokee

Is it possible to replace the in tank Fuel Pressure Regulator on a 96 Cherokee or do you have to replace the whole sending unit? My Haynes manual states you must replace the whole unit but the DIY stores list a regulator for the 96 but it looks like a regulator that you would find on a fuel rail. The 96 was the first year of the returnless system for Cherokees and there is no regulator on the rail.

Thanks
