Stripped drain plug

Ok no I didnt strip it but this is the first oil change since I owned the car. Its been awhile since I had to deal with something like this so I'm looking for advice. Engine oil pan drain plug, plug is stripped clean. Plug is 1/2"X20 so I went over size and self tapping no luck the outer skin of the oil pan has seperated from where the plug threads into (if that makes sense) also tried a style of plug that inserts and then you turn a wing nut to compress the rubber insert to seal still no luck. There has to be some home remedies out there not really in the mood to do a oil pan swap because the fricken plug is stripped, as before thanks in advance.

your friendly neighborhood sweeperking

P.S. I first tried a 1/2"X20 tap, not even close to sloppy. Any one go all the way to 5/8" (dont seem possible)

sweeper -

They used to make a rubber "plug" that was elongated and inserted into the drain hole by means of an insertion rod with bayonet lugs. Once the applicator rod was removed the rubber plug expanded against the inside of the pan and sealed it quite well. I used that on my old small block for years.

Sorry, don't know if that had a name other that drain plug repair kit or if they are still being made.
