Been a while since I've been here, had a pretty good year with the '36. Placed first in class at the Mega Mopar Action series in Memphis in June, had it in a calendar shoot later in the summer, got lots of attention at the Delta River Cruisin rod run at Sams Town Casino in Tunica, MS and this past weekend was at a car show at the Blue Angels airshow in Millington, TN where it took a $250 prize plus I was able to take some pics of it beside a B-25 Mitchell.
Been getting a lot done on it too this year, swapped out the seats for a pair of black leather PT Cruiser seats and fitted a rear jump seat from a 2002 Dakota club cab. The interior is now officially ready for the upholstery shop after 12 years. I'm building a raised floor in the trunk right now to conceal the spare tire, jack and provide a little extra storage space to keep spare oil, etc out of sight, should be able to finish that this week. One of the gears in the drivers window regulator lost a couple of teeth over the summer and somehow just as I was getting ready to have a new one made on a water jet I managed to locate a NOS gear for it, saving me a fortune.
The new 360 is breaking in fine, running like a stripe assed ape. Oil pressure is higher than I'd like- he put in a high psi pump- but as long as it doesn't spew out the breather cap I'll survive. It runs nice and cool, it's only been over 200 once due to a bad fan relay on a hot Memphis summer day; new relay and it runs 180-185 all day long. In fact yesterday I put about 100 miles on it and it never got over 160, cool 50 degree morning helped that. I'm headed to Panama City Beach in a couple weeks for Emerald Coast Cruizin so that will be its first long trip with the new engine. The only issue I have as of right now is a drippy front pump seal in the Torqueflite, more annoying than anything else, just a drip, I haven't had to add any fluid since I installed it last year but it leaks onto the exhaust and smokes for the first five minutes after sitting a week.
Oh, best thing of all, I've lost 65 pounds this year. So it's been a good one so far...

Took her down to Panama City Beach for the Emerald Coast Cruisin' shindig last week. Aside from the end seal on the back of the intake squeezing out and leaking oil she did great, not a whimper for a 1300 mile round trip. I did nearly freeze, it was 36 degrees when I left home and the car has no heater. Sometimes ya gotta pay to play...

Nice ride. I just brought home a 35 Plymouth 4 door sedan. I was a street rod that was not finished. It has a 318 engine and a Dakota front suspension on it. One of the problems encountered is the steering shaft routing. It has four "U' joints to get around the exhaust manifold and it creates stiff spots when you turn the wheel. I think I need to reposition the steering column to get a straight access to the rack and pinion. After I get the bugs worked out of it, I will strip it all down and finish it. I would like to see more pics of your 36.

I actually have one of those Bob, only thing is it isn't much help unless you're holding it between your knees...
Dan I know exactly what you mean, I have 3 on mine. Mine doesn't bind up though, do you have bearings on yours? I have two on mine and it doesn't flex around any at all. Also does your column come out in the stock location? I did drop mine so that it comes out in the toe board instead of the firewall, it got in the way of the exhaust in the factory location, that may also have something to do with it. Give me some time and I'll dig up the folders with some pics in it.

Thanks to both of you. The steering is the biggest "bug" I have to work out before I move forward to completing this car. I think the column that they used in it now is from a Dodge Diplomat. I am thinking about getting one from IDIDIT that would allow me to lower the exit point as you did and include some support bearings too. I just got the car and promised the better half I would complete some other projects before starting this one.

Ol' hot rod's still doing good, got about 14,000 miles on it now. Been knocking out some new projects on it the last couple of years, I got my Vintage Air setup installed and just need to get the hoses made for the underhood area. Cleaned the interior sheetmetal and POR 15'ed it and covered everything with Dynamat- floors, door and 1/4 skins, roof skin, and firewall. Since I got the insides all quietened down I went on and also installed a Kenwood stereo too. As much as I like the music the 360 makes, on a 600 or more mile trip some tunes are a nice change. I tore out the Dakota rear seat I had installed a while back- too tight back there to use anyway- and fabbed up a rear shelf like it had originally. I also installed a 3rd brake light, since my taillights are so low. Since it was down for the other work I went ahead and pulled the transmission and replaced all the seals and put a TransGo kit in it, and adjusted the bands. My first time inside a transmission, I ain't skeered anymore... With everything I did, it was down for almost a year, got it back up and running in August. From then until Thanksgiving I put 800 miles on it, drove it every chance I got. The battery just finally died last week, at 9 years old I guess I got my moneys worth out of it.

You had a video of you going through the gears on here somewhere, post it again or make a new one.

I tried uploading a url link to the video and uploading the video directly, both unsuccessfully. Gotta try something different. Till then I have some pics taken during the latest upgrade session.
Heater hose / ac line bulkhead.
Vintage Air Compac II installed and plumbed. Itty bitty car...
Freshly POR 15'd foot and toe board. Fabbed the piece under the ProMatic 2 shifter so it would sit flat and not wobble.
Framing for the rear shelf. It's amazing what you can do with building materials..
All done except for upholstery.
Had a friend in the hvac business make me the glovebox insert, then hid all of the accessories inside. All that's visible in the dash are the gauges and the headlight switch.
Neck deep in transmission mods. No matter how many pics you take you're always wishing you had taken one more..
The original oak headliner bows were in pretty bad shape so I made new ones.
