360 or 390 stroker? i need help
ok so i just got a new engine for my birthday the other day from my best friend. He was told that its a 360 built for drag/street. everything in the engine is in amazing condition, it has a holley 850 cfm 4 barrel carb, a nice edelbrock intake manifold, and so on and so on. well we took the valve covers off the other day to check the rockers and valve springs and to see if it was in bad shape, and to our surprise it was in amazing condition, everything was clean and looked new. to get more in depth with the engine we decoded the heads, and they came up with 390 stroker or 401 i think. so now im curious, is my engine actually a 390 or can you put 390 heads on a 360 block?

A buddy of mine had a '70 Rebel Machine, that was 2 years old..... Came stock with a 390, 4 speed and some 3.90 or 4.10 gears. It was the first car that I ever saw with a Mr. Gasket "Vertical Gate" shifter. I was 16 and we used to cruise Magnolia in Riverside Ca. Fun car!!!

I did alot of street racing in my day. There was a little 360 hornet that was a sleeper. It was very stout and put every bit of horse power it made to the road. I saw him take alot of money from people with that car. No one expected it to run like it did. You will be happy with it put it in somrthing. If I had it I would be looking for a Gremlin. Just a thoudgt .
