"68 Imperial fuel pump
Hi
I am new to this website. I have a 1968 Imperial with a 440 engine. I was getting no fuel to my carburetor so I decided to change fuel pumps. I ordered a new fuel pump. I removed the old fuel pump. When I tried to install the new fuel pump I could get one of the two bolts started but the other wouldn't quite line up. I had someone bump the starter numerous times thinking that would help but it still wouldn't fit. I even tried to put the old pump back in just to see if it would go but I can't even get it back on. There is a stationary "shaft" beneath the hole that the pump arm goes in. This shaft is inside the block and the pump arm will just clear it to the left. However it won't quite line up as I said. An hour job has turned into a four hour job so far and I am out of ideas. Anybody have any ideas?
