I have a 70 Duster that i just bought a rebuilt manual steering gearbox I have everything off except this pain in the but part. i had a hard time getting the rolled pin out of the shaft but finally got it and thought i was done and it would easly slide out... nope . pin is out i sprayed it with pb used a prybar that i bent straight and i cant seem to get it to seperate from the steering wheel shaft..... ive been trying for 3 days and cant get it even looked up some youtube videos and checked forums and they all say... remove the metal pin then its off but that hasnt worked for me :/.... any help would be appreciated

I use a tie rod pickle fork to pry the coupler up off the spline , worst case you could trying heating it but make sure you rebuild the coupler if you do

My Vote is for the pickle fork, used it myself before...

Well i got good news.... the pickle fork worked but now i have no idea on how to get the new gear threads to go in :/

also i just bought a edlebrock 500 cfm avs 4bbl carb and offy intake to replace the stock small single bbl .... when it comes to exhaust manifolds the clifford is $350 and the hookers are $450 any preference between the two? y? thanks :)

Examine it very close! there should be a notch in the shaft and the adapter that need to be aligned.
Clifford had a line of performance parts for the 6, I would go with the Clifford headers not for any specific reason

i will check for that now :) thanks

the cliffords are 16 gauge tubes 1 1/2" o.d and 2 1/2" collector
and the hookers are 18 gauge 1 5/8" and 2 1/2" collector
dont know if that makes a difference or not
clifford was 359.00 and hookers 469.95
Or..... should i keep the stocks :/
eventually want to put dual flowmaster 40 series just a crusier car but dont want it to be a granny lol maybe cam change also for the /6 idk yet

just checked it and all the splines seam evenly spaced out? any other ideas ?

On the steering box there should be one spline removed and a corresponding wide notch on the adapter. If a new shaft was put in the box you may need to add your own notch.. Use a small dremel tool. Make sure everything is aligned

finally got it notch was hard to find so lastly i have to connect it to the pitman arm is the best way do do this to jack the car up and turn it all the way to one side and do the same with the steering wheel then attach it or is there a different process?

Thanks in advance :)
