I hope I'm not being "Captain Obvious" here, But If you've never driven a car with a carburetor, A little driver input is needed, Before you turn the key you need to push the accelerator all the way to the floor one time, this will set the choke & the fast idle cam, after it's run 8 or so seconds, give the throttle a little tap, & this will step the fast idle down & the choke will slowly start to open. (assuming everything is working right) And you will be on your way.

panda! 04-23-2009 03:44 PM

thanks hypermite, i will follow ur advice, and yea its the first car i have ever drivin with a carb. lol im still getting use to the fact that i acutally have to spend money on gas lol but i heard that if i thro an electric fan in there, that it should help with the has mileage. btw more pics coming soon, and some motor pics yay!

SixtySevenDodge 04-24-2009 03:00 PM

right on! Go 4-doors!!!! I do like the 68 body better than my 67 >.< A cool little mod you could do (if it applies to 68 I know it does with mine) is take a 67 charger grille with the hidden flip up headlights and swap it with the coronet grille. I think that would be sweet looking.

panda! 05-05-2009 10:46 AM

im thinkin im gonna pick up a grant steering wheel for the carrot, and one have any info the grant merchandise? also i feel that the steering wheel moves too much like its loose or sumthin. is that normal for these cars?

johnthegoalie 05-05-2009 01:44 PM

grant makes a cool tuff-wheel repro... do you have power steering? i know on the manual boxes there is some adjustment for the amount of play in the wheel. if the box is worn, i think checker can still get them. they have one for my dart...

if the steering and suspension is too much for you, there is a great shop in mesa...

67 GTX 05-05-2009 02:00 PM

is your car power steering?
i heard that the mopar power steering was loose

panda! 05-05-2009 03:04 PM

yeah my car does have power steering, its not too bad but i do have to be careful on the freeway and i look funny cuz im moving the wheel like ppl do on tv when they aint drivin loloolol. im going to pick up that steering wheel for a hundred this weekend

johnthegoalie 05-05-2009 03:25 PM

yeah but you're on the west side, they all drive like that without the loose steering as an excuse :D

panda! 05-05-2009 03:29 PM

hahahahahahaha maybe in sun city! where all the cars have "multi colored" bumpers

johnthegoalie 05-05-2009 04:11 PM

anything in the avenues, you're at your own risk...

Zach8200 05-05-2009 04:54 PM

looks tits!
get that ac completed and working...

78D200 05-20-2009 03:04 AM

I never knew they made 4 door R/Ts. Unless of course, someone swapped grills, seeing that it has a Sb and not a BB.

Nice car!

Red Devil 05-20-2009 03:44 PM

that is cool for a 4 door
come on, you don't need a/c, my last buick skylark had none (typical GM junk) windows down works fine

Sunroofs rule!:D Always a breeze at 120 miles per hour! 75 deg, sunny, and everything is GREEN!

panda! 05-20-2009 04:55 PM

lol yeah if i was up north i wouldnt car about the a/c but dammit! and i wear a tie to work so it sucks, right now im working on the alternator, i dont kno why but it doesnt sit right and they had to use a bunch of washers to make it stay. i replaced the belts but the alternator is sitting kinda weird and making the belt kinda sit crooked, so ima go home and brainstorm also does anyone recommend and brand of high output alternator, i wanna hook up a sound system

scotts74birds 05-20-2009 05:23 PM

Yeah, I noticed that stack of nickles on the alt. If you up the alt output, be sure to size the wire for it.
