AAR fuel consumption?

Any AAR owners out there who might be able to tell me what their fuel consumption is?
My AAR seems incredibly thirsty. It's been a long time since the previous one I drove (1970!), so maybe I've just forgotten.

Mine was 16 mpg(imperial) at 60 mph. 357 Cu.in., 284/484 MP cam, 10.3:1 cr, 3.55:1 gearset, 727 cw 10" converter, TTI headers, MP electronic distributor.

Thanks, Drag Pak, but I'm looking for m.p.g. info on a stock AAR, 340-6pack.

this is a question that should never be asked. its thirsty because it has 3 carbs yoy dont buy a aar cuda for economy. is it running properly? not out of tune?

Mine was a WELL TUNED Six Pack. Idled in gear comfortably at 3" of vacuum.

Looking for stock #'s may be difficult as not too many owners actually drive them, lol! Or know how to tune them correctly!

AAR fuel consumption temporary update

Well, I may have found the answer to my problem. The problem is that my AAR appears to be delivering approximately 13 m.p.g. (Imperial) or about 10 miles to the U.S. gallon, and that's mostly highway cruising at 60 m.p.h. or less.
I have observed the engine r.p.m. on the tach at 60 m.p.h. and it seemed excessive at around 3350, so I went on line and the online chart told me that I must have a set of 4:10 rear gears in this car, contrary to the data plate and build sheet which show a 3:55.

Next step will be to put the car on a hoist a check the number of driveshaft turns for a full wheel rotation, just to make sure the tach isn't wrong, but it appears that it's the high rear gear that's causing the heavy fuel consumption.

yea 4:10 is excessive unless your taking it to the strip and occasional cruises

Comparing mileage figure today to what you got years ago ? They are different because
gas sold today is 10% garbage ethanol. You will never get 20 mpg with a 6 pack
unless you put a 518 trans in it. Then maybe

TVLynn... Hit the nail right on the head.......
Your not dealing with the same type of fuel....
But don't be to mad at the car... It was considered a performance car in it's day. And I'm sure it does have that!!! :)

i remember when the AAR and the T / A came out. 1970 i think. if you look at size of cam they have and how fast the car is, you will hard pressed to find a car with that much speed with out being over camed

I was 13 in '70, lived in So. Cal. and there were Saturday afternoons that my buddies and I would ride our Schwinn Sting Rays to the Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth dealership in Riverside that stocked the hot factory products (AARs, T/As, Hemi cars, etc.). These cars would be displayed on the front row of the lot during the day we would sit on the grass to watch them put the cars away in the late afternoon.
Most of the cars looked, and acted, like a handful for some of the sales people as there were many times that they'd kill the car every time that they let the clutch out!
And that deep MOPAR sound emanating from these machines, through mufflers, was like nothing else!!
Don't mean to sidetrack the thread but, thanks, for taking me back!!
