Hey guys, I found an ad on craigslist, the guy says the same thing I have said here. He just wants to know what it fits. But at first site I was thinking it was a 6 pack for a 440. But after a couple of minutes of looking at it I dont think it is. Maybe you guys can tell me?

It is an offinhouser intake. And their are no Casting humbers on it anywhere.

Could that be a tri-power setup for a GTO? I have seen that some where before or atleast the carbs look like something I have seen.

Did he have it on a Mopar or buy it from a Mopar guy?

i think its an offy "portosonic" probably for an oldsmobile or pontiac. I've never seen one with the tri power. Just a guess.

after googling it I believe you are right. Thanks for the help in figuring this one out guys. I honestly did not know they had put a 6 pack on anything other than mopars. But that proves how much I know. Thats why i thought maybe it was just a funky looking 6 pack for a 440 or 340 lol. But after seeing the intake ports on the bottom of it, I figured I was way off lol.

theomahamoparguy 11-29-2009 10:08 PM

yeah your'e right. those old fords did have that funky port design with the over and under openings.

If that isn't an oxymoron, I don't know what is. :p

I forgot the T'birds used these and that might be a rare item that could sell to a collector for good chunk of changes.

I cant remember what Ford called the T' Birds with those on it and what motor they used. My dad is a big 55-57 T' Bird fan.

Yeah it would probably sell for quite a bit. It's not mine though I was thinking about buying it from the guy that had it for $200.00. But decided against it I wouldnt have any use for it. So I told the guy he should put it on ebay and see what it goes for, cause I'd bet its a really hard part to come across, especially being original not a reproduction.

Six Pack Intake

All of the Big 3 had a 6 pac or Tri Power carb set up at one time. 2 of the more famous are the Pontiac Tri Power and the Mopar Six Pac. I dont think Chebie ever had a factory 3-2 carb arrangment.

Sure they did!!! 348!!! Never offered on small blocks, but of course the 'Vette setup had 2 x 4's on the 283

I can remember one in a station wagon, of all things!!!

You guys are right, tho. Just about everybody had a factory triple setup at one time or another. Olds, Poncho, not sure about Stude

man this is old. lol. I feel stupid after reading what I said on this now. It's def way too small to be a 440 intake lol.

'09s never came with tripower, only the 348.
