Can't find my engine number

Can anyone direct me to exactly where the location is of the engine number on my '64 Plymouth 318? I've checked the locations listed in both the owners and service manuals and still can't seem to find it Any help especially a picture would be appreciated.

Thanks
Bruce

It should be right on the side of the block.

Thanks for the response but can you be a little more specific. Driver's side, passenger side, front of block etc. There's a bit of grease I have to wade through.

If it were me, I'd get that motor steam cleaned or at least rent or borrow a preasure washer. If your gonna start working on it, this will make everything a little easier.

Does it have scalloped valve covers like these?

I get it now. I was way unclear as to what exactly I was asking for :banghead:
I'm looking for the location of my engines serial number. Can you all try again?
Thanks.

It will have casting #s but it does not have a serial #s... They did not start stamping the serial # (vin #) until 1968 ??

OK. Now I'm really confused. My '64 Service Tech Manual and owners manual both state the location of the engine/serial number but are not very specific as to the exact location. That is why I ask. The attached excerpt from the tech manual shows the location on the 318 and what numbers I could expect to find there. I'm having a hard time matching the picture to the location on my engine. Once again any help resolving this for me is appreciated.
