difference between 426 wedge and 426 hemi
there's a guy around me selling a 426 max wedge with everything except a crank shaft for 300 dollars
im on really considering on picking that up but just wondering is there a difference between the hemi block and the wedge block? could i put hemi heads and pistons on a wedge block and it run like the real thing? 1962 dodge max wedge (1852029-1) engine in good shape was running when pulled. 413 punched to 426. |

Unless you need the dated block,I would pass on this, The forged crank is the best part of this package. john |

heres the ad still wondering if i could i could do what i want to do with the block or not |
two completely different blocks, although they do share bolt on parts. I 'm not sure what the heads are he says industrial heads . 1962 would be a 413 block bored to 426.... The 426 did not come out until 63

Sounds like it maybe a Marine Engine to me. That would explain the industrial heads. The block number does come up as a 1962-63 413.

This is a term that is getting WAY too much mileage. There never were very many "max wedge" engines, and there are far "too many" of them showing up. If this really WAS a "max", and I doubt it, it would be worth way more than 300 bucks JUST FOR THE HEADS. Max heads are a very very special breed, as are the intakes. Chrysler made lots and lots of 413s and many more 426 stageI/ II "street wedges" than the stage III "max" wedge, and there were damn few of the last. |
