I was at Moparfest and Herb was giving a seminar so I caught him before he went on the stage and told him I put this on my car, all he said was "why". He went on to tell me that when he first tested, it bent the right front spring leaf up 90 degrees. Changed the spring, next run bent it 90 again. They tried reinforcing it and all kinds of fixes but he hated it. I didn't have a chance to tell him, 'cause his wife was calling him to the stage, that I wasn't planning on dumping the clutch on an 800 HP Hemi!

Dan , I had a friend that tried Caltracks whith SS springs and had simular results.

I was beginning to think the 500 had the makinggs of a figure eight race.

Good Morning.
Dan - I watched the last half of the race. I liked it also !!!! I dont have any favorites, That's because there are no Mopars in the hunt. But outside that Dale Jr. is my pick out of the young bloods.
Iowan - How about that !!!! I think they are off to a good start...

NHRA didnt do so bad... Leah, Hagen, Anderson,
One of our locals from SO-CAL lost in Super Stock. But was in the finals with his Duster.
I only have regular T.V. so i dont get to see much, Just what my buddys post and whats on some of the sights...

Looks like its going to be a cool Cloudy day here in SO-CAL with a chance of rain. Going to be about 65* most of the day.

Have a good one y'all..

Not sure yet... Looks like I left the wire door open and the rats got in it and f'ed it up. A bunch of wire's are all malled up. I'll get it opened up in a few weeks and see what i can do to fix it... It's an old Linde wire feed unit. I might just move over to a millermatic 211. I'm really not doing any large jobs anymore.

The thing about being retired is you have time but no fund's so it's back to the good old way of doing things. You build instead of buying, I love it. The 64 is something we have considered doing drag week with, the snotty little 289 will push it in the mid 11s, we'll see.

It's allso the the project we are talking about adding ten to fifteen lbs of boost and efi, like I said we'll see.

Iowan... Is that a 4 speed car ? Do you have a a tear drop hood on that babe...
I loved those little Fairlane Sports... Really nice little cars....

Just a little added history of my self.... One of my old High School Buddys had a 1965 Ford Falcon with a built 302 with a 4 speed. Had a 4.10 rear gear ratio. and a great sounding exhaust. Great fun car. My buddy "Allen" Worked for an old friend of mine, much later in years... "Allen" worked for Gale Banks back in the 90's, Work in sales for Gale.. I new gale when he was just a small time dude.. My other Buddy "Drew" work for Gale Banks also, "Drew" work with Gales right hand Cylinder Head Porter guy "Wally".. Wally was an amazing porter and when that guy got done with a set of heads... All you could say was WOW.. I Still Owen a Gale Banks prepped Small Block Chevy Motor, It needs a freshen up.

Anyway, At that time way back before Allen hopped up his Falcon. my sister had a 1964 Ford Falcon Wagon!! You know, the one with the back power window? the old 263 had gave up the ghost, So I put together a crazy little 289 H.O. 4-V headed motor at about 10.5.1 with a C-4... And man, I whooped his but with that wagon a few time!! Rite up till one night when he snuke up on me with a little 100 shot of NOS.. He got me good that night, Never seen it coming... I late stopped by his uncles house (A good old Ford Hot Rodder) and when I pulled up... He just chuckled at me... We just laughed and laughted... Good Times....

I have a few Fords in my time... Only a had full... But fun... Not sure I should show this... But this was a Low 11.XX 84 Ranger my brother-n-law and I threw together to tech our kids to race in...lol

Morning. Cold here this weekend. Just ordered up these belts, so glad Shawn found these so we are not stuck searching for modern convertible built in shoulder belt. Pass it around, I think these will be great for all muscle cars.

Bob I've got a question for you, at work do you run into problems with guys putting e-10 or e15 in small engines? I don't know what you have in California if you have ethanol at all.
I worked for a construction co. rebuilding heavy equipment and it seamed every gas powered welder/generator, saw, etc. had to have the carb gone through once a year or more because I couldn't get the operators to use reg unleaded.
You ever run into that.?

Tom, For the most part the ethanol is a by product of the fuel out this way. Most all the California motors are set up for some type of E in large or small amounts.. But it's availability is wide spread out here for like E-85 and that type of fuel.. Like you we do notice allot of failure in carbs and fuel line's. If you let that stuff sit, It does funny things to the inner of components. You open it up and you find a white powder, and some times it will even eat away at the aluminium or pot metal and even make it fragile.
The guys you work with are more than likely just like our guys... Wont listen, but are quick to bitch about the equipment not working and always at the shop. Me and my guys give them hell over the maintenance on there part.
It's a little easier with premix and those seem to do a little better.
Our stuff comes in every 4 mouths or min. or 3 times a year for service, weather it gets used of not. this allows us to swap out the fuel into a gas caddy and replenish it with fresh fuel and run the unit for a little bit.

Ok. Now to help you with your problem. Not to sure how your guys mix the fuel? But my suggestion would be to get guys to use Marvel Mystery Oil or Sta-Bil in with the mix. Just a cap full with every 1 gal. of fuel will help a boat load with your problem. Thats just what we have found. And even though we might miss a service, if we have to open up the carb for cleaning, it's not all that bad on our side...

Try it in a couple of you problem children and see how it works for you?
I can full understand how frustrating it can be. We have 260 Peaces of equipment to maintained and i have only 2 full time mechanics and myself as a supervisor/mechanic/foreman/partsman/admin data/day to day operations for fueling and CNG/ Way to many darn hats to wear for what I get paid...lol
So doing the job twice or come backs really **** me off to no end, and if someone is making more work for me and my guys buy being self centered. They really get a Azz chewing and are more than happy to leave the shop..

Sorry for the long winded answer...

Great topic...

Just my 2 cent..
Keep us posted.
