Transmission leak
I went out today and looked under my 65' coronet and saw transmission fluid on the ground. I haven't driven it in a few weeks and when it was parked the transmission wasnt leaking. It just started leaking this morning. What could cause it to leak?

could leaving it in neutral for a couple of days cause that? i realized that it started leaking after it was left in neutral.

Where is it leaking from? The pan or one of the lines to the rad?
|
i think from the pan

Alot of times they start leaking form sitting to long.if i were you i would replace the gasket/filter and if it is an older tranny i would reuse the tranny fluid you took out of it.Hope that works for you.We were in florida for three month and when we got home the same problem with my Plymouth.Hope that helps you

Have you looked under the car???? There are "o" rings all over the trans and lines and fittings. Just get under there and look. How could anyone possibly tell you where it is leaking from?
|

"what would cause it to leak?" That is what i am talking about. Too much time on line and not enough under the car. Heck JUST LOOK UNDER THE CAR!!!!! |
Sorry, i guess i just took your comment the wrong way. I am not trying to come across as being cocky.

I recently fixed a problem like this. Had a cheap chrome trans pan made from china or something that I installed. Sure it looked good, but man it leaked like hell. A guy that new abit more about this type of stuff said the cheap chrome plated crap made oversea's always leaked. Went with an aluminum pan with a deeper sump and never had any problems after that.
