voltage regulator
 
hey guys i need a new voltage regulator for my 69 dart my question is since it is a 69 and they used mechanical ones up till then do i need to replace it with one of those or can i use an electrical one that they started using in 1970? does it matter or not or just to be safe use a mechanical one anyways?:confused: any help will be greatly appreciated!!:D

The answer to your question is simply yes, however, I did see on the net a guy who rebuilds the old style contact point regulator. Basicaly he guts them out and installs electronics in place of the points (still trying to find the web address) You can do a conversion which also includes replacing the alternator. I have included a link (above) that explains how to do this. I did it to my 65 Polara, works great.
